St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish

Immigrants from around the world brought their faith to a little N.H. town,

Planting a seed that became the tree that we now proudly gather around,

For back in the mill town of Great Falls our Catholic church quickly grew,

Holy Trinity in eighteen fifty-seven and St. Martin’s in eighteen eighty-two,

Beautiful buildings where we’ve gathered as decades have come and gone,

But the real church has always been its people, who’ve proudly carried on,

Everyday working folks like you and I, realizing that there’s so much more,

Reaching out to help one another, humbly dedicating our lives to the Lord,

With some of the finest religious men and women leading us along the way,

We’ve continually grown closer to our loving God with every passing day,

Opening up our hearts & minds to carefully listen to all that He has to say,

Realizing that He knows what’s best for us, upon bended knee we now pray,

For it’s time to come together in this great city of Somersworth forevermore,

As one loving family, we now form a single parish to simply serve the Lord,

St. Ignatius of Loyola, a soldier who at the foot of God laid down his sword,

Dedicating his life to Jesus and simply contemplating His each & every word,

Now we turn to you for guidance as we joyfully begin our new journey today,

Along with St. Martin & the blessed Holy Trinity, walk with us along the way,

Help us to reach out to welcome one another with open arms outstretched,

Recognizing all we have to offer to each other, realizing we’re truly blessed,

So 100 years from now they’ll fondly look back upon what God created today,

For He is the kind & loving potter, and in His talented hands we are the clay,

Thank you, God, for the many blessing which You bestow upon us each day,

Watch over us and guide us as we continue to serve You in all we do and say,

St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish, Somersworth’s churches joined together at last,

Together we shall build a bright future upon the proud foundation of the past!
